How to build a business that grows through word-of-mouth and referrals only?

Imagine if you’re on a road trip with your family and it just so happens that everyone’s phone batteries die. 

You’re all super hungry but you aren’t familiar with the area you’re in. 

You then come across two restaurants that look decent and clean but aren’t sure which one will satisfy everyone’s cravings. 

So like most people would do, you look at the parking lots and see that the restaurant on the left has 2 cars in the lot and the lot on the right has 10 cars. 

Which one would you pick?

Probably the one with more cars in the lot right?

What’s interesting is that word-of-mouth and referrals work in the same way.

Rather than sending prospective clients to a web page, you have living and breathing ambassadors that are willing to spread the word of your good work.

Most of the time, they don’t realize they are doing it because it just feels right to talk about the astonishing experience they had with you.

What if a close friend that you’ve known for a while, you trust completely, and you really respect, said to you…

“Hey! You have to try this thing I did!”

You’d probably be interested, get curious, and take them up on their suggestion. 

I was recently asked by a referral, “So, how do you help people?”

Rather than trying to explain what I do, I shared with him an email my client of 2 years wrote to me when I asked him; What is the value of coaching for you?
