How to overcome the 'Nos'​ to get what you want?

One day, I met a young boy in his early 20s at Costco who sells Novus Internet packages.

At first glance, the signs made it look subpar to the Canadian industry heavy hitters like Telus and Shaw.

You’d think that selling a product like this would be difficult.

Especially since most people have established long-term relationships with their existing providers.

But, I saw him approach every single passerby and noticed something.

His confidence and certainty emanated from across the hall.

He was unphased by all the ‘Nos’ and awkward looks he was receiving.

Hearing the word ‘No’ for most people can feel really uncomfortable.

If you hear enough ‘Nos’, this feeling can get pretty intense.

And what’s interesting is that most people give up after the 3rd No.

Sound Familiar?

So I got curious!

I wanted to know what was driving hit grit and kept him going.

So, I asked…

‘It looks hard to sell your product here. I noticed you’ve been getting a lot of Nos’

He looked at me, grinned, and said…

‘Yes, I get a lot of ‘Nos’, but every once in a while, I get a Yes and meet my daily quota. I make offers to everyone that comes this way because I don’t want to miss any opportunities. If I don’t ask, the answer is always 'No'.’

I was impressed!

Hearing such powerful words from a young salesman was a gift.

It created a shift in me and I hope it does the same for you.

Byron Katie once said, ‘You can get whatever you want if you’re willing to hear 1000 Nos’.
